The Cutest Cafes in London

July 18, 2019

If there was ever a city known for cute cafes, it would be London. Cafe-hopping is one of my favorite hobbies, and London had no shortage of amazing floral displays with amazing coffee to go with it. With no further ado, here are all the cutest cafes in London!

Saint Aymes

Having named themselves “The Prettiest Cafe in London,” Saint Aymes is definitely a quintessential Instagram cafe! On weekends, you’ll spot London’s finest influencers posing outside the gorgeous flower facade. However, I’ve heard that the food here is actually quite lackluster, so come here for the pic and not the food!

Dominique Ansel

While there are some spots on this list that I would caution you against actually eating, Dominique Ansel is a world-famous French pastry chef who needs no introduction! His creations, such as the iconic Cronut (a blend of a croissant and a donut pictured above on the right) is a delectable masterpiece for your mouth, and what’s even better is that in the back on the shop there’s a gorgeous patio with a full flower wall! The flowers change based on the season, but they’re always stunning.

Feya Cafe

Located right by Bond Street, Feya Cafe is the most modern-looking of these cafes! While the decor inside does feature a giant flower branch across the ceiling, the rest of the furniture and decorations are geometric and rather minimalistic. The pastries and drinks here are also delicious – they even have milk tea!

Peggy Porschen

This spot is so iconic in London, it’s practically a legend. But beware, if you come in the middle of the day on weekends or even after work on weekdays, you’ll have to battle a bunch of Instagram girls posing for photos to even get in the door. I’m shocked that I managed to even get a photo of this door with no one in it because, by the time I left and came back a few minutes later, there was a line in front to take photos. For this reason, if you only want to come for the baked goods, I recommend the newer location in Chelsea over the original one in Belgravia. Although this spot is mostly known for the aesthetic, the cupcake that I tried from here was delicious!

Elan Cafe

Elan Cafe’s (or is it El&n Cafe?) aesthetics are plastered all over social media, and the cafe has become so wildly popular that it now has six different locations scattered around London! Although the newest and biggest branch is the Hans Crescent one right next to Harrods, I personally feel as though in the pursuit of ultimate Instagrammability, they have accidentally veered into tacky. My favorite location is the one on Brompton Road only a bit away, which I found more understated, but still plenty pretty and pink.

Fait Maison

This spot is super cool because, despite the French name, Fait Maison’s food influences are actually from the Middle East! Executive Chef and Creative Director of Fait Maison, Om Waleed, is from Palestine, and therefore you’ll find unique flavors of food that you’ll never forget. Oh, and the facade of flowers in front is super gorgeous.

Aubaine Selfridges

Aubaine is more of a restaurant than a cafe, and it’s located within a Selfridges on Oxford Street! As a French restaurant with a modern twist, the food at Aubaine is as stunning as the decor. The Selfridges location fits right in with the luxury items surrounding it, with clean tiling on the floor, luxurious and clean decor, and a ceiling dripping with wisteria flowers.

Bea’s of Bloomsbury

Bea’s has multiple locations, but in my opinion, the Bloomsbury location was the prettiest. With a bright, airy location, plush royal blue chairs, and floral touches everywhere, Bea’s of Bloomsbury feels luxurious but intimate at the same time. I came here for a classic British afternoon tea, and I think it was well worth my money. Every item was either gorgeous, delicious, or both.

Sketch

When I was in London for my study-abroad semester, the one thing on every girl’s bucket list was to have afternoon tea at Sketch! However, as an experiential art gallery meets restaurant, Sketch’s prices were seriously out of my budget. Afternoon tea in the Gallery (the pink room above that everybody wants to go to) was at least £60 per person, but when I was going to go there was a floral installation that bumped the price up to £75!

I couldn’t justify that price, so here’s a life hack for you guys. Reserve a spot in the Parlour room for breakfast or drinks instead of the Gallery. Prices at the Parlour are very reasonable – they’re no more expensive than anywhere else you’d eat in Central London – and the food is really good too! Then sneak off to the egg-shaped bathrooms afterward for your photos! You’ll have to go downstairs and through the Gallery, but since you’re customers you’re pretty much free to roam.

Biscuiteer’s

Biscuiteer’s is less of a cafe than it is a mere biscuit shop, but I couldn’t resist adding it to this list because of how cute it is! Their facade has a hand-drawn feel to it that I found so adorable, and their biscuits (cookies for Americans) are equally as cute! They do offer icing classes for kids and hen parties, so if you can’t get enough of Biscuiteer’s, reserve yourself a spot!
